How it began

As a medical professional who believes that nature plays an important role in healing, Rizvi Hasan developed a passion for the wonders of the wilderness.

On a hike in Wilpattu 20 years ago he discovered his home away from home: almost an island, surrounded by a lake, a stream and the mighty Wilpattu jungle.

He wanted to share his passion with other nature lovers, both Sri Lankans and overseas visitors.

Wasting no time, he brought Raalmadu to life, creating an eco-friendly resort and an exotic holiday destination for nature lovers seeking tranquillity within Sri Lanka's largest forest reserve.
